{photo on sunday afternoon - before the first day of school}
this morning, maddie and isaac and i headed to school. i stepped into my room, turned on my wax melt (with some sprigs of sage from the mountain), started a pot of coffee (in my red coffee pot from ben), turned on some classical music, and got ready to welcome my four kids.
i have a fourth grade boy, a fifth grade boy (isaac), and sixth grade girl (maddie) and an eighth grade boy. they are all pretty wonderful.
our first day included lots of getting to know each other, lots of time outside, a fair amount of writing, the beginning of a read-aloud and the first of the schedule tweaking. i'm hopeful that by the end of this week, i will have figured out a good routine for us.
{what lunchtime looks like at the country school - the weather was perfect today!}
tomorrow morning will start out much the same - with sage and coffee and music, with a poem and a few facts about this day in history, with some handwriting practice and some more bits added to our gratitude list, and on into our day we will go.
