yesterday :: isaac woke up with hives over half his face and one side of his neck. maddie was on edge - so many things made her snap or cry. they played legos. i read to them - we are nearing the end of Kalak of the Ice. we made cookies. they played outside, then ran back out in not nearly enough clothes for me to snap a pic of them. we packed their school bags all up. i had them rest for a while. i laid by maddie and sang to her and ran my fingers in her hair. they said they didn't want to go to swim practice, but we went anyway - because practice was at their favorite pool - of course they had a blast. we had supper together, all four of us. and visited about school and life and how the new day would start in the morning.
today :: isaac woke up with hives over half his face and on one side of his neck. maddie was so excited! we had a great breakfast all together. they put on the clothes we had picked out last night. we were all ready in plenty of time. isaac and i dropped maddie off to get on her bus. and then i brought isaac to school and helped him find his locker and put his things into his desk.
when i returned home, ben was waiting to have a cup of coffee with me. then he headed off to work. miss n joined me for the day. but there was plenty of quiet time. i started in on cleaning the kids' room. like a serious, deep clean. i'll finish that tomorrow.
ben came home at lunch time, just to be with me.
and a friend came over for a cup of coffee in the afternoon.
those two buddies were on my mind all. day. long. i just kept hoping and knowing and hoping that they were having a good day.
ben came home early - so we sat on the couch together before we headed off to watch the kiddos' swim practice.
they were swimming like they were doing just fine.
after swim practice was over, isaac finally came up from the locker room. "how was your day?" i asked him. "school was terrible," he told me. my face fell. "oh, buddy . . . ," i started to say, when he interrupted me with a full-blown, eyes-sparkling laugh. "i got you, mom! i got you really good! school was really awesome!"
and then, there was maddie, and two hours later, she hasn't stopped talking about her day and her friends and her work and, and, and!!! she's doing her math homework right now, and talking to me at the same time.
isaac is having a little veg-out time before he reads to me.
then off to bed for kiddos, and onto the couch for me to wait for ben to come home from training.
it was a good day. a very good day.
