we've continued to write our thankful lists in our school notebooks each day.
today, both kiddos had bacon and mom on their lists. i feel pretty special to be ranked with bacon!
for my thankful lists, i have been following along with ann voskamp's april 3 gifts list. find it toward the bottom of this post. each day she has a prompt for 3 gifts to watch for and be aware of.
today the prompt was 3 gifts budding/blooming
i wrote: hmmmm - this is tough as it is snowing + 32degrees today. we are not having spring-like weather at all. but here goes.
1. my violets. they never cease to amaze me - all 9 of them from 3 original plants - ^the plant mom sent with me to college ^the plant from dorothy (on cedar ave) ^the plant that annie passed on to me
2. daisies in a pickle jar on the table
3. maddie's little zinia starts
also, we have a whole bucket of seeds that i'm praying will sprout + grow into vegetables
and my own 3 good things about today: ^maddie and isaac got extra sleep ^glorious pancakes and bacon with devan ^ben home by 4 - all of us in the family room, learning and working
i am truly enjoying these prompts. and have needed the reminders to look at the bright side, as there has been no bright side outside. wow. am i longing for sunshine and warmer than freezing temperatures. i feel like i am hanging on by a thread . . . a thread of thankfulness.
yesterday maddie looked at me and asked, "mom, are you ok?" "i'm trying to be," i told her. "i'm trying to be."
so, i keep spinning the thread, one good thing, one gratitude, one joy at a time:
. . . . the hum of the washing machine . . . . homemade coconut oil body butter . . . . ben's arms around me . . . . warm fire . . . . our chickens' eggs . . . . dried pineapple . . . . maddie - playing the piano + singing . . . . issac - outdoor adventurer . . . . ben not flipping a lid at me - ever . . . . egemier's Bible story book . . . . ben's new job . . . . home . . . . ben's down sleeping bag for napping in . . . . zoe the chocolate lab . . . . bacon . . . .
