I am 30 today. Crazy!
Here are 30 interesting (or not-so interesting) things about me. Things I never thought about, or would have guessed would turn out differently, if you had asked me about them when I was 15. And in no particular order - just as I think of them.
- My feet and legs fall asleep if I sit cross-legged on the floor for too long.
- I LOVE dark chocolate. (I used to think it was SO disgusting.)
- I LOVE coffee. I even like it BLACK. Though my favorite way to have it is with quite a bit of 1/2 and 1/2. No sugar, though. Unless I'm splurging on a mocha.
- The Bible my parents gave me when I was 14 has fallen apart. I still have it, but I now use one my husband bought me for our first Christmas together.
- I really love to study and do research.
- I have little crows' feet growing by my eyes.
- I have three age spots on my face. Little ones. But I refuse to hide from the sun. And my gramps had LOTS of them. So, I'm sure I'm in for it!
- I've been married for 8 1/2 years.
- I have two kiddos. I always thought I would have four. I love my two. (I talked about it here.)
- I am homeschooling my kiddos. (I said NEVER about this . . . )
- I am a bit of a granola muncher - I love granola and avacado and salsa and whole grain breads and foods.
- I make almost all my own bread.
- I have a blog. (These things didn't exist when I was 15.)
- I did not marry the first guy I really loved. I did not marry the first guy I had a long term relationship with. I DID marry the very most perfect man for me.
- I live in a house that is about 1100 square feet. (I would have guessed bigger.)
- I have a facebook account. (Again, not even a possibility when I was 15.)
- The only phone I have is a cell phone. (When I was 15, cell phones were BIG clunky things that were VERY expensive to own and operate.)
- I do not have a college degree. (Though I do have more college credits than many people who have college degrees . . . )
- I have gotten along just fine without a college degree.
- We have a dog. She lives in our house. (I wasn't going to have an indoor pet . . . )
- I have found 2 grey hairs on my head; my husband has lots of grey hairs on his head.
- I am seriously contemplating dread locks.
- I love a good find at a thrift store or a rummage sale.
- I detest shopping in a mall.
- I don't wear "mom" clothes. I am sort of a hippie. Lots of bluejeans and easy sweaters and tees and tanks. Some hemp and some beads.
- I don't make my children call people my age Mr. and Mrs. For some reason, it seems like that's for people my parents' age and older.
- I still totally love to play outside.
- My mom and dad live in the same town we do, and I love it!
- One of my very best friends has been one of my very best friends since we were 7 (Elissa). Another since we were 14 (Stef). Another since I was 18 and she was 19 (Liz). Another since I was 20 (Ben). And the other is my sister. I think that I am very blessed to have 5 such dear friends.
- And I am very blessed to have found some very dear friends through blogging. When I was 15, I would have thought that calling someone a "friend" who I had only ever "talked" to over the internet was weird and creepy. Now I think that this is amazing. These connections we make by putting a bit of ourselves out here, then reading others and offering joy and encouragement, this is really cool.
