the shower for Chrissy . . .
(Annie and I put all our fall decorations together - what fun!)
(cider and apple rings arranged by Andrea)
(almost finished in time - by Christy)
(awaiting a sweater, which is in the works)
(a blanket with a story - knit by Grandma Nancy)
And I had to show one more picture of all of these. When Chrissy opened the box and pulled the top quilt out, she said, "I've been hoping I would get one of the quilts that you girls have been making." Then, as she pulled out quilt after quilt - each one so full of hope - hope that her pregnancy is completed and that Isaiah is born healthy and without complication, hope that Tate and Cayle and Nolan will belong to her and Pete for good, that the adoption process will go quickly and smoothly, and joy, that Chrissy and Pete have grown closer together along this winding path of their first two years of marriage. Less than they have walked through would have driven other couples apart. God has been good to them and is holding them in the palm of His hand. (If you wish to pray for them, I know that any extra prayers would be felt and appreciated.) I don't believe that anyone's eyes were dry as the final quilt was drawn from the box. Mine sure weren't.
And now, here we go! I have three items for giveaway. When you leave your comment, let me know which one or ones (you can be interested in all of them!) you would like to be entered for. I will draw names on Saturday, sometime after noon - central US time.
The first item is over two yards of this purple and turquoise fabric with random white paisley pattern. Perfect for a spring or summer skirt? I am going to make a skirt with a bit of it for my niece for her birthday - she LOVES purple. (The scissor is sitting there to show you the size of the pattern.) I believe this is vintage. (Also, the colors are a bit brighter than they show up here . . . I don't have any sun this morning. Lots of rain . . .)
The second item is two pieces of vintage flannel (at least 25 years old). The light colored piece must be over 4 yards. And the red piece is over 3 yards. My mom gave me a huge stash of flannels that an older lady at her church had given her and these are two of the 10 or more pieces that were in the stash. I've used some of them, and they wash up nicely and are soft.
The third item is an embroidered dresser scarf (that's what my grandma would call it). It is about 6 in. by 12 in. I don't know how old it is - I found it at a rummage sale this summer and it is very bright and pretty. I really like it - but I really like all my readers, too, and I want one of you lovely ladies to have it!
So, make your comment by noon on Saturday - central US time - and I will announce the winners on Saturday afternoon! I am excited to find out who I will be sending these pretty things!
